Stage 3 (Feb 19 ~ Mar 11) Schedule

Shameel (Midterm on Feb 25 & Mar 5):

  • Using the layout file that Terence has completed, import the factory and the skittle modeled. Replace the boxes in Terence's scenes by the factory and the skittle. If it is not already done, please place the key-frames at the correct frame positions (i.e. 2nd key-frame starts at the 3rd second => the 91st frame). Add a ground and a road (and maybe more) to the scene by Feb 20 [done]

  • Animate the explosion of the m&m factory and send sample rendered images to Theresa and Tai by Feb 28 [done]

  • Research on compositing rendered layers in Maya, compile findings into a step-by-step tutorial, and communicate results to Terence by Mar 12. This step will make simultaneous renderings of the explosion sequences easier in the future. [done]

Terence (Midterm on Feb 25, 27 & 28):

  • Research on how to animate the running of the skittle by Feb 28 [done]

  • Guide Tai, Elissa, and Theresa to use the (partial) character setup during meeting on Mar 1 [done]

  • Set up the character (i.e. skeletons, deformers) by Mar 4 [done]

  • Prepare sound track & sound effects (panting, fire crackling, sound of running footsteps, bomb's tick-tick, sound of door swinging open) based on storyboard, make an animatic by Mar 8 [done]

Tai (Midterm on Feb 25 & 28, Mar 4 & 11):

  • Research on how to animate the turning of the skittle by Mar 7 [deferred]

  • Animate the turning of the skittle and send low-resolution animation to mailing-list by Mar 9 [deferred]

  • Estimate computation and render times by Mar 10 [done]

  • Finalize the storyboard (with exact timing in terms of frames), and update the web page by Mar 10 [done]

Elissa (Midterm on Feb 25 & Mar 4):

  • Learn about camera-rotation-based animation by Feb 20 [done]

  • Animate the running of the skittle by Mar 3 [deferred]

  • Animate the stopping of the skittle by Mar 6 [deferred]

  • Send low-resolution animation to mailing-list by Mar 8 [deferred]

Theresa (Midterm on Feb 19 & 25):

  • Research on how to animate the facial expressions (the smirk) of the skittle by Mar 1 [done]

  • Start animating the facial expressions. Draft the smirk (and the movement associated with the smirk). Render a low-resolution animation and send to mailing-list by Mar 8 [done]

  • Look into inserting "pointers" to models in scene files so that separate animation/rendering would become much easier in the future by Mar 8 [done]

  • Render & compose facial expressions animations by Mar 8. Email Tai about how long this process took (to help estimate render & composition time). [done]

  • Create PowerPoint presentation by Mar 10 [done]

  • Look into cloud effects by Mar 12 [done]

All:

  • Meet to discuss how the analysis of Lasseter's principles will be carried out (mini-demos, written reports, else?) on Mar 1 @ MTF 3pm ~ 6pm [done]
